• One Stop Shopping: Office Decor on eBay

I just recently moved into a new office space for my web design studio. While I’m loving working outside of the house, the space is in desperate need of some style. I was able to pick up a few small items last week, so the room isn’t completely barren, but there is still a long way to go. During a brainstorm for goods I thought I’d checkout my favorite odds and ends website – eBay! I’m especially in love with the bar cart and mirror.
So here’s to a beautifully decorated office to come! I fully intend to share photos although I can’t promise it will happen anytime in the immediate future (work beckons!)

  • A Weekend Jaunt to Brattleboro

A few weeks ago Konrad and I took an overnight trip to Brattleboro, Vermont. It’s not very far from where we live but for whatever reason we rarely make drive, which is truly a shame because it’s a beautiful journey and Brattleboro boasts an awesome co-op, and our little town does not.
We had good intentions to take part in the art walk that happens on the first Friday of every month, but we ended up having a lazy early dinner at an English style pub, and catching a movie for the first time in months (we saw Gravity – holy panic attic).

For the most part we wandered around off-beat trails and kept our eyes out for candy and house plants (two items that are always on our shopping list).

In you ever find yourself in New England, I’d highly recommend a visit!

  • Heads Up – There’s a Lunar Eclipse Tonight!

lunar eclipseGuess what, sky watchers?? Tonight shortly after day turns to night and the full moon rises, a lunar eclipse will be on display! The best part is that it’s early in the evening (I’m always missing those 3am meteor showers). So make sure at 7:50pm EST you go outside and look up!

Thanks to Jenny Rollo for the photo.

  • Vintage Style for the Discerning Shopper

modcloth myrtlewood private labelFlaunt Every Facet Dress, Baker Street Style Coat, Stay For-evergreen Dress

This past week while indulging in a day long journey of thrift stores and antique shops, I had some major scores. It’s been a long time since I had a day like that and it was awesome. I used to love spending hours combing through racks, but these days I honestly rarely have it in me. Between the over-picked racks and the often-times poor condition of the clothes – ugh (none of my major scores this week were clothing items, most were books and decor).

Luckily the vintage comeback of the last few years has inspired many a shop to come out with their own vintage inspired line. Recently ModCloth threw their name in the hat with their private label Myrtlewood. I’m loving the Mad Men era designs of the above dresses, and the coat with its voluminous bottom would look so adorable over an equally fluffy dress. The top below is exactly the kind of cut I am always buying these days, and in the color plum=perfect.

What are your favorite pieces? I’d love to head! PS: ModCloth has free US shipping on orders over $50. Score!

  • A Moment In Time

long exposureA long exposure photo to represent a pause in time. I’m currently having a slow, disconnected week while Taylor is home visiting. Posts will continue but my virtual mental energy is nowhere to be seen.

This photo is from late summer. The set of images didn’t come out well because it was so close to dusk, but I still like them anyway.

  • DIY Bookshelf + Some Tips!

Do It Yourself! The D.I.Y. revolution is upon us!
Just wanted to share my most recent project with other like minded do-it-yourselfers out there!

The problem: My bedroom is a rather large, rectangular room. I recently bought a chaise lounge, but had no where to put it in my bedroom other than awkwardly pushed up against a wall. I also have a lot of books.

The solution: I decided to build a bookshelf to act as a partition, creating a cozy corner near my desk to put the chaise lounge in for reading. Check it out!:

While in the planning stages, I decided I definitely wanted enough space for some crates underneath the bookshelf, which have been great for shoes and pet supplies! On the wall behind you can see a collection of art that I’ve acquired from friends and classmates over the years. Here’s a better picture:

And lastly, I wanted to give you one last little tip. Do you have a drawer overflowing with cooking utensils? We did, before we decided to hang all the coolest and sleakest items up on the wall to save space and add a little life into our kitchen! I went with stainless steel and wood only for a modern meets cabin feel. Check it out!:

A few months ago I shared these photographs of mine with you, and I wanted to make good on my promises and share a few more! These images were a part of a show I had in April, Long Legs, as a part of my senior thesis at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina.
